Studied up to 8th Class. Ravidas tola, Bedahareyara is Scheduled Cast populated village of Bishnugarh, associated with the Sustainable livelihood Project of Samadhan Sansthan. Gudiya Kumari is associated with the group of Lakshmi mahila Mandal, a women’s group associated with the organization from this village. This village was living in poverty due to the limited employment opportunities available, people migrated out in search of work. In such a situation, Samadhan Sanstha started promoting the good habit of making Kitchen garden in the group so that women get regular nutrition in their daily diet and women can get an opportunity to earn additional income. In such a situation, Gudiya kumari joined the kitchen garden as a group member and started growing vegetables by preparing a kitchen garden in the little land available in the backyard of her house and along with fulfilling her daily nutritional needs, she also started earning income from the additional production. For the last three years, Gudiya kumari has been successful in keeping her kitchen garden green. Apart from vegetables, he has also planted trees like banana, lemon, custard apple and guava along with the kitchen garden. Recently he earned good extra income by selling 40 kg tomatoes. Seeing her efforts, other women of the village also started the good habits of kitchen gardening. This reduced their dependence on other sources for daily nutrition and the provision of an additional source of income has brought a positive change in their lives.
